Ooops! I can't believe it's been over a week since my last post! I'm still working on the pictures from the birthday party and baptism (and still begging for baptism pictures...I don't have a single picture from the baptism itself!).
Somehow, we've also managed to take on two HUGE projects over the last week. First, we decided that it's beyond time to replace the carpeting that was destroyed by our cat. Currently we have a cut & loop low-pile carpet in our bedroom and the family/playroom. You can sort of see a bit of the pattern in this picture of L taken when she was only about a month old.

I can't tell you how much we hate this carpet. It's really rough when playing with the kids, and doesn't vacuum well. Not to mention the stains...oh the stains! There are countless stains in that carpet-mostly from the cat, but also from red wine and my crafting projects. We need something comfy and durable for the space.

Here are only some of the samples we've brought home over the last few days. Now we're going through the dizzying array of styles, fibers and colors. I'm pretty sure I prefer the new flecked frieze carpets (see that sample in the top left? It has a combination of beige, gray and tan fibers which should help hide future stains). The next decision is mostly regarding fibers. One store was trying to sell us a PET Polyester, and another was selling the new Triexta fiber (branded as Sorona or Smartstrand). There's so much conflicting information out there, and we've got to make a decision by mid-week. I have no clue...it's the most difficult decision I've had to make in a long time. We figure that we'll be in this house for another 7 to 10 years, and I REALLY don't want to go through this again if we can avoid it. Ugh. So frustrating!

What's this have to do with what happened last week? Well, I've been wanting to repaint the family/playroom for the last couple of years. What better time than before getting new carpet? Furthermore, it's best to have the paint color up when looking at samples. Unfortunately, the Husband was out of town last week for the first time since L was born. So I spent every single spare moment painting that giant room. Hopefully I can get myself in gear fast enough to redecorate the space quickly and get a final reveal to you before I go back to work in a few weeks!
