This week, I'm participating in The SITS Girls Fall Back Into Blogging Challenge. Each day, bloggers are challenged to post about a specific topic. Today's challenge is to post about a Favorite Fall memory.
~~~~~~~~
One of my absolute favorite fall memories is from November 4, 2005. I had just finished a work conference in the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains; and I was taking the scenic route back home. It was incredibly beautiful. I've never seen fall leaves like that before, and I still remember enjoying that drive more than any other in a long time.
I was also excited because my then-boyfriend-now-husband had said that he wanted to go out that night. And since I had a little extra time, I decided to go shopping for a new date outfit. Unfortunately, shopping took a little longer than expected, and I got back to my apartment a little late. My then-boyfriend-now-husband was already at my apartment waiting for me.
We said our hellos and I started to get ready to go out. Next thing I knew, he was pulling me over to sit on my bed and getting down on one knee. I don't even remember exactly what he said. I just remember saying "Yes". That was the start to one of the best weekends I've ever had. We decided not to tell anyone in our families until Sunday night. We just enjoyed each other in our newly-engaged status. We went wine tasting, watched movies and basically did nothing but spend the entire weekend together.
Someday, I hope we can enjoy another weekend like that. Where nothing in the world exists beyond the two of us. Even if for just two days.
