Making Your Kid's Birthday Special

There's no doubt, T is feeling jealous of her little sister.  Between potty training regression (seriously...ew) to just general acting out, she's looking for some extra attention.  While I can't stop attending to the baby's needs, I am planning on making her birthday extra special this year.  Here are some ideas I've found that sound like fun.

T loves breakfast more than anything else...so how about serving up something seriously fun, like this neapolitan pancake cake from Sugar Swings.

I actually have tons of balloons still left over from last year's party, so I'm definitely thinking of filling her room with balloons while she sleeps - just like Jonie did from Just Between Friends.

Then again, she's also been obsessed with looking at old photos lately...so I could copy Our Wonder Filled Life and print out a bunch of her baby pictures and incorporate those in with the balloons.

Whether or not we do the surprise balloons, I definitely plan on decorating her doorframe with a streamer curtain just like this one from Hager Happenings.  I can already imagine the squeals and giggles when she opens her door in the morning.

Do you have any birthday traditions with your kids?  I'd love to hear any ideas!
